Ricursive Intelligence
A startup launched in December 2025 by AlphaChip co-creators Anna Goldie (CEO) and Azalia Mirhoseini (CTO) that describes itself as a frontier AI lab building self-improving systems, starting with chip design. TIME reports a $300 million Series A at a $4 billion valuation.
AI systems the company is building would design chips, those chips would train more capable AI, and that AI would design the next chips. Its site states the aim of "closing the loop between AI and the hardware that fuels it", and Mirhoseini told TIME: "If we can make AI make better chips, then those chips can power the next generation of AI models, and this loop can continue."

Why it is a road to recursion
It is a company organized explicitly around the hardware route to recursive self-improvement, led by the authors of AlphaChip.
